Great Starts Sports Camps is always looking for high quality, high character paid head and assistant coaches as well as volunteers. Below are the details of employment for the summer 2008 camp season. 1) Camps start June 16th and end August 8th (no camps the week of June 30th). 2) Most camps occur mornings (staffed from 8am - noon) or afternoons (staffed from noon - 4pm). 3) Paid and volunteer staff must love working with kids; have a great deal of experience, knowledge and passion for their sports; comply with all Great Starts rules/regulations/guidelines/expectations/values, and be fully committed to their Great Starts assignments. Our expectation is that you treat this opportunity responsibly and seriously. Behavior otherwise may impact the amount paid for and/or the privilege to continue employment (for paid coaches) and service hours applied (for volunteers). 4) Paid coaches will be hired as TCA employees and compensated per the standard TCA payroll processes (paid at the end of each month). 5) All paid assistants and volunteers 18 and over must complete a background check and fingerprinting. Great Starts will cover 1/2 the cost of the background check and fingerprinting – the other 1/2 will be withheld from your first Great Starts paycheck (approximately $30). Other documentation (I9, W4, etc) must also be completed. Great Starts will pay for the full cost of the background check and fingerprinting for all volunteers committing to at least 1 camp (approximately 20 hours of service). 6) Head coach pay is discussed individually with coaches and is typically dependent on the age group and skill level of campers. Paid assistants will be compensated by stipend, starting at $180 for 1 camp (approximately $9/hr for 4 hrs/day for 5 days). Stipends will increase based upon previous experience (Great Starts and otherwise) as well as evaluations during the 2008 summer camp season. 7) The availability to work multiple sessions will also be a determining factor regarding selections for paid positions. 8) Volunteers who are TCA students may apply up to 30 hours towards their community service commitment. 9) All paid assistants and volunteers must complete a coach training session prior to June 16th (training schedule TBA). 10) All paid and volunteer assistants will very likely receive certificates/gift cards/etc from our various business partners as an additional thank you for helping make the Great Starts Summer 2008 camp season a success.
